Tesla is getting plenty of competition from the big boys lately and Audi are now entering the mix with the Audi E Tron.
Audi are out with fighting talk too – Audi boss Rupert Stadler announced at the car’s reveal: “Our [first] Audi e‑tron will be starting out in 2018 – the first electric car in its competitive field that is fit for everyday use.”
The front grille is reported to contain 500 individual digitally controlled LEDs, allowing Audi to display more animations than ever before, what next after scrolling indicator lights?
Two rear motors at the back and an additional in the front provide 320kW of power in standard mode – with a boost mode available which increases output to 370kW. This equates to roughly 490bhp.
Audi claims a 4.5sec 0-62mph sprint and with a low centre of gravity thanks to the battery placement – handling is expected to be fairly decent too!
