Ladies and Gentlemen, the Ford GT figures have finally been unveiled!
We knew it was going to be fast, but how fast?
The 3.5-litre V6, with twin turbos – dishes out 636bhp and 550lb ft of torque and helps it reach a top speed of 216mph – no 0-62mph time just yet but it’s going to be around the 3 seconds mark (my guess is their waiting for the perfect temperature and grain of tarmac to set it’s time).
On the track – the Calabogie Motorsports Park to be precise, which is located near Ottawa in Canada, Ford tested the GT and it came out around 1 second quicker than the McLaren 675LT and three seconds quicker than the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
“The Ford GT is all about performance,” said product development boss Raj Nair. “We achieved considerable weight savings with the carbon fibre architecture. We then reinvested some of that savings into where it counts most – performance, specifically the active dynamics. The result is an even faster car.”
